Hey everyone! Dr. Rob Anderson here, clinician co-founder of Marit Health. Today is a special day, one I've eagerly awaited for months. After many months of hard work building and learning, I'm excited to announce that Marit Health is coming out of Beta and officially launching to the public!
What started as a simple question - "Why isn't anyone doing anything to bring salary transparency to medicine?" - has quickly evolved into something that feels like a movement. Our journey began modestly with a simple, anonymous salary survey for Anesthesiologists and CRNAs. Within just 36 hours, we had over 450 responses (that’s one every 5 minutes). It was clear that we had tapped into something bigger, but it was unclear just how big this could be.
Well… today, we have over 12,000 members (practicing clinicians, residents, fellows, trainees, medical students) in our community contributing more than 7,000 anonymous, verified salaries. We are one of the largest and fastest-growing clinician-powered datasets ever created. It spans 50+ US states and territories, 353 metros, 157 subspecialties, large and small employer types, and all job types (full-time to locum tenens). But we go beyond just the salary, and we can look beyond just the averages and see all the individual details that matter - hours worked, call schedules, overtime, bonuses, benefits, and more - so we can make well-informed career decisions.
This level of transparency and access has simply never existed before in medicine. Every time someone shares how they've used our data to negotiate a better offer, it further validates how powerful this movement can be if everyone in medicine comes together.
But Marit isn't just about data - it's about building collective trust, sharing knowledge, and the belief that when clinicians come together, we can help shape the business of medicine, advocate for fairness, and create more fulfilling careers. There is strength in numbers!
From day one, we've been guided by clear principles:
- We will always put clinicians first. Everything we do is to improve your experience and empower your decisions.
- Marit will always remain free for clinicians. This data belongs to you; we will never charge clinicians for salary information.
- Our platform will be available and accessible to verified clinicians and medical students who need this information at every career stage.
- Your privacy, anonymity, and data security are paramount. We'll will never sell your data and we will work tirelessly to protect your information and ensure accuracy.
- We'll build the best, most modern software and tools that clinicians deserve - no more archaic interfaces, paywalls, or opaque information.
To accelerate our mission, I'm thrilled to announce that we've secured funding from an outstanding group of investors across healthcare and technology. These supporters have built transformative consumer companies like Zillow and Glassdoor, which have empowered millions of people through transparency and data; and healthcare companies like Laudio, that empowers clinicians to do their best work. We feel incredibly fortunate to have their backing as we strive to bring this same level of transparency and empowerment to medicine.
Tim and I are also excited to introduce additional members of our team who bring deep expertise in technology, AI / data science, and community-building. These are leaders who’ve built great products and communities to transform careers at companies like Glassdoor, Indeed, and Fishbowl. Working alongside our clinician advisors, this group is hard at work building the tools to make this vision a reality.
But this is just the start. This has only been possible through all your support and feedback. Together, we’ll continue innovating, enhancing transparency, and creating groundbreaking products that truly empower clinicians to thrive in their careers.
I couldn’t be more excited for what's ahead. Here’s to building the future medicine deserves.
PS: if you’re a clinician and would like to help us build the future of Marit, please let us know here
With gratitude,
Dr. Rob Anderson
