A hospitalist locum tenens opportunity for Physician Assistants (PAs) near Columbus, Ohio, offering both day and night shifts. The role involves rounding, admissions, and cross-cover duties with a collaborative team of physicians and advanced practice providers. The position is suitable for PAs with or willing to obtain Ohio licensure, with flexible scheduling and competitive hourly compensation.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient hospitalist coverage during day and night shifts.
• Perform rounding and admissions as needed during day shifts.
• Handle cross-cover responsibilities during night shifts, including admissions if time permits.
• Collaborate with a team of physicians and advanced practice providers.
• Maintain patient care documentation and adhere to hospital protocols.
• Ensure timely communication with the healthcare team regarding patient status.
• Participate in coverage for a census of approximately 150 patients daily.
• Work with available specialty backup support.

Compensation

• $90 per hour for day shifts
• $95 per hour for night shifts
• Referral incentive of $500 for successful candidate referrals
• Compensation paid via 1099 tax status

Shift & Schedule

• Variable schedule with 12-hour shifts
• Shifts include day (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and night (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.)
• Availability of at least 5 shifts per month, with preference for longer coverage

Requirements

• Physician Assistant (PA) certification and licensure.
• Active Ohio medical license preferred; willingness to obtain licensure considered.
• Board certification or eligibility (BC/BE).
• Availability for at least 5 shifts per month; longer coverage preferred.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including variable day and night schedules.
• Experience in hospitalist or inpatient care preferred.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Must be able to work independently and handle a high-volume patient census.
• Comfort with no procedures required for this role.
