The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) provides comprehensive obstetric and gynecological care within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Responsibilities include prenatal care, labor and delivery management, assisting in cesarean sections, postpartum rounds, and providing first-line on-call coverage for OB/GYN services. The role involves assessment, diagnosis, management, and evaluation of patients, ensuring quality care and optimal outcomes in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive history-taking and physical examinations of obstetric patients.
  • Manage prenatal care, labor, and delivery, including first assisting in cesarean sections.
  • Provide postpartum care and follow-up visits.
  • Interpret electronic fetal heart rate monitoring and respond appropriately.
  • Assist in cesarean sections and perform limited obstetric ultrasound procedures.
  • Provide on-call coverage for obstetric emergencies and routine care as assigned.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to ensure quality patient care.
  • Maintain required certifications, including NRP and Electronic Fetal Monitoring, within specified timeframes.

Compensation

  • Hourly rate ranging from $53.59 to $80.39, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Additional compensation options include sign-on bonus, relocation support, and CME allowance.
  • Compensation is provided through a W-2 employment model.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Certified Nurse Midwife or Licensed Midwife in New York State.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing or nurse midwifery program (Master's degree preferred).
  • Credentialing through the Medical Staff office as required.
  • BLS, NRP, and Electronic Fetal Monitoring certifications; EFM certification within first year of employment.
  • Experience as a Nurse Midwife preferred.
  • Ability to perform accurate history and physical exams.
  • Proficiency in interpreting electronic fetal heart rate monitoring.
  • Credentialed to assist in cesarean sections within six months of hire.
  • Credentialed to perform limited obstetric ultrasound.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
