The Physician Assistant (PA) and/or Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide patient care in the Emergency Department and/or Urgent Care setting under physician supervision. They are responsible for conducting examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, performing therapeutic procedures, developing care plans, and prescribing medications within their scope of practice. The role requires maintaining appropriate certifications and adhering to organizational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Examine patients, take medical histories, record results, and make diagnoses.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and blood work.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures in accordance with privileges and standards.
  • Consult with supervising physicians as needed to ensure safe patient care.
  • Develop and implement patient care plans, and provide patient education and counseling.
  • Prescribe medications within state and organizational guidelines.
  • Maintain necessary certifications for emergency and urgent care practice.

Compensation

  • Salary paid via W-2 tax model.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current licensure and certification based on certifying exam.
  • Demonstrated competency with patients across all age groups, including neonates, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as prolonged standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Completion of required continuing education and licensure maintenance.
  • Ability to handle exposure to chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and bodily fluids.
  • Supervision by a physician on duty, with accountability for own actions.
  • Experience providing care in emergency or urgent care settings preferred.
  • Strong professional judgment and communication skills.
  • Compliance with organizational and licensure standards.
