The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) provides comprehensive primary and specialty care to pediatric patients from infants through adolescents. Working in collaboration with physicians and healthcare teams, the PNP conducts assessments, diagnoses, treats illnesses, prescribes medications, and offers health education, including telemedicine services within the School Wellness Programs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physical exams, obtain patient histories, and assess pediatric health status.
• Diagnose and treat common childhood illnesses and injuries.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as labs and imaging.
• Prescribe medications and therapeutic treatments in accordance with regulations.
• Provide anticipatory guidance and health education to children and families.
• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other health professionals to coordinate care.
• Document patient encounters, assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Provide care that is culturally sensitive, developmentally appropriate, and family-centered.

Requirements

• Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) in Michigan.
• Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-PC or CPNP-AC) by PNCB or ANCC.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
• Minimum 1-2 years of pediatric care experience preferred; new graduates considered based on clinical rotations.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system is a plus.
• Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
• Proficiency in pediatric growth and development assessment.
