The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine's Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant to provide anesthetic care under the supervision of a physician anesthesiologist. The role involves patient evaluation, administration of anesthesia, monitoring, and participating in clinical and administrative duties within various healthcare settings, supporting the university's mission of excellence in education, research, and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Obtain preanesthetic health histories and perform physical examinations, documenting findings accurately.
• Collect diagnostic laboratory samples, including arterial and venous blood, as needed.
• Insert and interpret data from invasive monitoring devices such as arterial lines, pulmonary artery catheters, and central venous lines, as delegated by the supervising physician.
• Administer anesthetic agents and controlled substances under supervision, including induction, maintenance, and post-operative care.
• Conduct post-anesthesia patient rounds, record progress notes, and transcribe orders.
• Evaluate and manage life-threatening situations, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, following established protocols.
• Perform duties in intensive care units, pain clinics, and other clinical settings as appropriate.
• Participate in departmental administrative tasks and clinical instruction of others.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Anesthesiologist Assistant program or related field.
• Active Ohio Anesthesiologist Assistant license.
• Active certification by the NCCAA.
• Certificate of Authority to practice in Ohio as a C-AA by the date of hire.
