An established urgent care group in Pennsylvania is seeking experienced Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants for a locum tenens position. The role involves providing urgent care services in a fast-paced outpatient setting, with opportunities for both full-time and part-time schedules. The position offers support staff, onsite diagnostics, and requires independent clinical judgment with remote physician backup.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat patients of all ages independently in an urgent care setting.
- Diagnose and manage common urgent care conditions such as cold/flu, rashes, sprains, lacerations, minor burns, and other minor illnesses.
- Perform procedures including suturing, splinting, wound care, incision and drainage, X-rays, EKGs, blood draws, and IV placements.
- Work solo at times with remote physician support for escalations.
- Refer high-acuity patients to the emergency room when necessary.
- Utilize onsite medical assistants and radiology technicians to support patient care.
- Document patient encounters accurately using Epic EMR.
- Travel between sites within approximately 30 miles as needed.

Shift & Schedule

Requirements
- Active Pennsylvania medical license and CSR (IMLC not accepted).
- Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and PALS.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in urgent care or 1 year in emergency medicine.
- Proficiency in treating pediatric through geriatric patients.
- Strong procedural skills including suturing, splinting, and wound care.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, typically from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced outpatient environment.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel between multiple sites within a 30-mile radius.
- Must have completed a self-query of the NPDB within the past 30 days.
