The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to deliver inpatient surgical care. The role involves managing post-surgical patients across various service lines, collaborating with physicians and healthcare teams to provide comprehensive care during acute and stable chronic phases, and supporting health promotion and education efforts.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient care to post-surgical patients across multiple service lines, including Plastic Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Surgical Oncology/Hepatobiliary, and Head and Neck Surgery.
• Collaborate with physicians, residents, and other clinicians to deliver comprehensive patient care.
• Manage patients during acute and chronic phases of illness, including health education and counseling.
• Coordinate referrals to other healthcare providers and community resources as needed.
• Work as a float provider covering inpatient duties on 10 or 12-hour shifts, primarily during day shifts.
• Participate in inpatient team activities and ensure continuity of care.
• Adhere to clinical protocols and standards authorized by credentialing and certifying bodies.
• Maintain documentation and compliance with institutional policies.

Requirements

• Current Ohio APRN certification or PA-C certification recognized by NCCPA.
• Eligibility for Ohio licensure as an APRN or PA-C.
• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or PA program qualified to sit for certification exams.
• Master of Science in Nursing or equivalent for Nurse Practitioners.
• 0 years of relevant experience required; inpatient APP experience preferred.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication and patient care skills.
• Commitment to providing high-quality inpatient surgical care.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including 10 or 12-hour days.
• Compliance with all licensing, credentialing, and institutional requirements.
