Rural Physicians Group is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a part-time, contract position in the Emergency Department of a Critical Access Hospital in Cambridge, Nebraska. The role involves providing emergency care coverage on a flexible schedule, with 24-hour shifts and 24/7 call responsibilities, supporting a small community hospital with an average of 1,300 annual visits.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency medical care in a rural hospital setting, including managing common diagnoses such as CHF, PNA, chest pain, and abdominal complaints.
• Perform all necessary procedures independently, with at least 2 years of autonomous practice experience.
• Handle rapid response calls and participate in emergency protocols.
• Cover scheduled shifts on a variable basis, including 24-hour shifts, as part of a team.
• Participate in 24/7 call coverage to support emergency services.
• Collaborate with onsite family medicine providers and subspecialty support as needed.
• Utilize Meditech Expanse EMR system for documentation and patient management.
• Contribute to patient care in a small community setting, serving a primary catchment area of small towns and surrounding communities.

Compensation

• Compensation model: 1099 independent contractor

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of autonomous practice experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
• Ability to perform all necessary emergency procedures independently.
• Active Nebraska license or ability to obtain licensure.
• Experience in emergency or acute care preferred.
• Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Comfortable working in a rural hospital environment with variable shifts.
• Willingness to participate in 24/7 call coverage.
• Proficiency with Meditech Expanse EMR system.
