The Physician Assistant - Obstetrics and Gynecology at Winchester Hospital is a part-time clinical role supporting inpatient obstetric and surgical services. The PA collaborates with physicians to provide high-quality, patient-centered care, assisting with deliveries, perioperative management, and bedside procedures within a rotating schedule of day and night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assist obstetricians with patient care, deliveries, and postpartum management.
• Perform obstetric procedures and maintain competency in fetal monitoring and cervical ripening.
• Support surgical teams with perioperative care and assist in surgical procedures.
• Manage surgical patients and support first assist roles in the operating room.
• Perform bedside procedures and maintain proficiency in CPOE and other clinical skills.
• Participate in rotating schedules, including day and night shifts, with night shifts every third weekend and holidays.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain required certifications such as BLS, ACLS, NRP, and obstetric-specific life support certifications.

Compensation

• Salary-based compensation (W-2 tax status).

Shift & Schedule

• Part-time schedule with 36 hours per week, typically 3 twelve-hour shifts.
• Rotating schedule including day shifts (7am-7pm) and night shifts (7pm-7am).
• Night shifts occur every third weekend and during holidays.
• Schedule hours are variable.

Requirements

• Graduate of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program.
• Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies with a specialty focus preferred.
• At least 6 months of clinical experience in obstetrics and surgical services.
• Experience with labor, vaginal delivery, postpartum care, and fetal monitoring.
• Experience in perioperative care, including first assist roles and managing surgical patients.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications.
• Ability to perform bedside procedures and first assist in the operating room.
• Strong communication and collaborative skills.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills and English language skills (reading, writing, speaking).
• Ability to work a variable schedule with 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
