Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center in Jacksonville, Florida, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Surgical Oncology team. The role involves providing inpatient and outpatient care for patients with complex malignant conditions, assisting in surgeries, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team in a state-of-the-art oncology facility.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients with malignant and complex gastrointestinal, skin, soft tissue, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, stomach, melanoma, and sarcoma conditions.
• Assist in surgical procedures as a first-assistant in the operating room, including robotic, laparoscopic, and open cases.
• Perform postoperative wound care and manage pain for surgical oncology and colorectal surgery patients.
• Conduct rounds on hospitalized patients in the post-operative phase and coordinate discharges.
• Evaluate new and existing outpatient consults, document clinical encounters, and perform clinic procedures as applicable.
• Collaborate with staff physicians and multidisciplinary teams for patient management.
• Participate in shared night and weekend call, including inpatient rounding and emergency OR coverage.
• Support the care team in a high-volume, interdisciplinary oncology setting.

Compensation

• Salary commensurate with experience.
• W-2 employment tax status.

Shift & Schedule

• Monday through Friday workweek.
• Shared night and weekend call, including home call during weekdays and inpatient rounding for emergency cases on weekends.
• Call schedule varies based on departmental needs.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) or from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current Florida licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA).
• National certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
• 1-2 years of experience as a first assist or RNFA preferred.
• Interest or experience in oncology and surgical specialties.
• Ability to perform outpatient procedures and assist in complex surgical cases.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• Willingness to participate in shared call schedule, including nights and weekends.
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage complex patient conditions.
• Commitment to providing patient-centered, multidisciplinary care.
