The CAMC Neurosurgery department is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Professional (APP), either a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, to provide clinical, surgical, and hospital rounding services. The role involves collaboration with neurosurgeons, endovascular neurosurgeons, and orthopedic spine surgeons, with responsibilities including patient assessments, procedures, and interdisciplinary team coordination in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in patient rounding independently or with physicians/surgeons and attend interdisciplinary rounds as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate and manage patient care.
  • Perform comprehensive health assessments, develop care plans, and initiate interventions.
  • Provide first-assist and/or second-assist surgical services in trauma, elective neurosurgery, endovascular neurosurgery, and orthopedic spine cases.
  • Perform diagnostic, surgical, and therapeutic procedures within scope of practice.
  • Document clinical findings, diagnoses, CPT codes, and care plans accurately and timely.
  • Act as a clinical resource, patient advocate, and role model for effective communication.
  • Possibly serve as the first call for hospital staff and participate in quality and safety initiatives.

Compensation

  • Salary-based compensation (W-2 tax status).

Shift & Schedule

  • Variable schedule days, including potential trauma call responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner from an accredited program.
  • Certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (NP-C).
  • Licensed and credentialed by the West Virginia Board of Physician Assistants (PA) or relevant licensing authority for NPs.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Experience or interest in neurosurgery, trauma, or surgical procedures is preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and a professional, pleasant attitude.
  • Ability to perform or assist in surgical procedures and manage complex patient cases.
