A locum tenens Physician Assistant position in Springfield, Ohio, specializing in cardiovascular thoracic surgery or critical care. The role involves assisting in surgeries, patient care coordination, and interpreting tests, with a focus on adult and geriatric patients. The position offers flexible scheduling and requires active licensure in Ohio, ACLS certification, and COVID vaccination.

Responsibilities

• Assist in cardiovascular or thoracic surgeries (not required to write prescriptions or retrieve tissues)
• Coordinate patient care and perform rounding
• Interpret diagnostic tests and order additional testing as needed
• Write prescriptions (not required for this role)
• Assist with vascular tissue retrieval for bypass procedures (not required)
• Collaborate with the surgical team and other healthcare providers
• Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR system (Epic)
• Provide care for adult and geriatric patients

Compensation

• $135 per hour
• Relocation support offered
• Compensation is on a 1099 tax basis

Shift & Schedule

• Variable schedule, approximately 10-11 days per month
• Work includes Fridays, weekends, and possibly additional days depending on scheduling needs

Requirements

• Board-Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C)
• Active Ohio state license or ability to obtain quickly
• ACLS certification (required)
• COVID-19 vaccination (required)
• Experience in cardiovascular thoracic surgery or critical care (preferred)
• Ability to work 10-11 days per month, including Fridays and weekends
• Proficiency with Epic EMR system
• Excellent communication and clinical skills
• No new graduates; prior relevant experience preferred
