Physician Assistant - Dept of Surgery

The Physician Assistant will provide diagnostic and therapeutic care in the Department of Surgery, supporting surgical subspecialties such as ENT, Urology, and Orthopedics. Responsibilities include managing consults, writing preoperative and postoperative orders, performing minor procedures, and assisting surgeons in the operating room. The role requires collaboration with surgical residents and involves coverage of clinic and surgical procedures during daytime hours.

Responsibilities

• Manage consults in the Emergency Room and surgical departments.
• Write preoperative and postoperative orders for surgical patients.
• Perform minor procedures such as splints and Foley catheter placements.
• Assist surgeons in the operating room during surgical procedures.
• Cover clinic duties related to surgical subspecialties.
• Collaborate closely with surgical residents and team members.
• Provide care for medically and critically ill patients in the Department of Surgery.

Compensation

• Hourly pay rate between $76.97 and $94.17, depending on years of experience.
• W-2 tax status.

Shift & Schedule

• Full-time, daytime schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Requirements

• Current New York State Registration as a Physician Assistant.
• Bachelor's Degree.
• Completion of a NYS-recognized Physician Assistant Training Program.
• Previous hospital experience.
• Experience in Critical Care or Emergency Medicine preferred.
