This part-time position involves supporting the operation of a student residential training facility (Job Corps Center) by providing health and wellness services under physician supervision. The role includes developing health programs, advising staff, and delivering direct medical care to adolescents and young adults, primarily focusing on health promotion, injury and illness management, and coordination of health services.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor the center's health and wellness program under physician supervision, including advising staff on medical matters and health-related policies.
• Consult with center staff on managing health equipment, supplies, and medications, ensuring proper safeguarding.
• Prioritize health needs and set program direction in coordination with the health and wellness manager, dentist, and mental health consultant, while adhering to budget guidelines.
• Coordinate integration of medical, oral health, mental health, environmental health, and health education components with other center activities.
• Advise health education instructors on implementing health and wellness initiatives and promote health outside the clinic to enhance student employability.
• Maintain confidentiality and proper documentation of all health records.
• Issue and maintain signed standing orders for medical care.
• Provide direct medical services, including initial health assessments within 48 hours of arrival and comprehensive exams within 14 days, diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and injuries, immunizations, and referrals for specialized care.

Compensation

• Compensation is provided on a W-2 basis, with details to be discussed during hiring.

• Part-time position working approximately 4 hours per week.

Requirements

• Active license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Rhode Island.
• Experience providing physician health services to adolescents and young adults who are socially and economically disadvantaged.
• Ability to develop and monitor health programs under supervision.
• Competence in diagnosing and treating common illnesses and injuries in a clinical setting.
• Knowledge of health record confidentiality and documentation procedures.
• Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary health teams and center staff.
• Familiarity with Job Corps policies and procedures.
• Availability to provide emergency back-up coverage.
• Strong communication and consultation skills.
• Experience in health education and promoting wellness initiatives.
