A Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant is sought to join a surgical team in Iowa, primarily focusing on assisting with cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgeries. The role involves both inpatient and outpatient care, with an emphasis on surgical assistance and consultations. The team currently includes one physician and two PAs, with a call schedule of 1:3. Responsibilities

• Assist with cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgeries, including endoscopic vein harvests using the Maquet system
• Participate in consultations related to vascular and thoracic surgery
• Provide inpatient and outpatient care, primarily focusing on surgical procedures
• Support the surgical team during operative procedures
• Manage preoperative and postoperative patient care as needed
• Contribute to the call schedule, which is 1:3
• Collaborate with the physician and other team members to ensure quality patient outcomes

Compensation

Requirements

• Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner certification
• Minimum of 1 year of experience assisting in cardiothoracic surgery
• Experience with endoscopic vein harvests using the Maquet system is preferred
• Ability to assist with vascular and thoracic surgery consultations
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work in a variable schedule with on-call responsibilities
• Current licensure or ability to obtain licensure in Iowa
• Experience in inpatient and outpatient surgical settings
• Strong clinical skills in surgical assistance and patient management
