Barrett Hospital & HealthCare is seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant for full-time overnight coverage. The PA will work approximately 10 shifts per month as the sole provider during each shift, with consulting support from the Emergency Medicine Medical Director. The role involves providing high-quality emergency care in a rural hospital setting within a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency medicine care as the sole provider during scheduled shifts, generally overnight.
• Manage a high-acuity patient caseload in a busy emergency department.
• Collaborate with the Emergency Medicine Medical Director and healthcare team to ensure quality patient outcomes.
• Work approximately 10 shifts per month on a rotating schedule.
• Maintain documentation and compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and team meetings.
• Provide consultative support as needed within the emergency department.
• Adhere to hospital policies and protocols for emergency care delivery.

Shift & Schedule

• Full-time schedule with approximately 10 shifts per month.
• Shifts are 3x12 hours, generally overnight.
• Schedule includes variable night shifts.

Requirements

• Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program.
• Montana license and DEA registration preferred or ability to obtain licensure.
• Minimum of 2,000 supervised Emergency Department practice hours within the past 24 months.
• At least 2 years of Emergency Medicine experience.
• Self-directed, motivated, and able to work independently during shifts.
• Highly efficient in managing high-acuity cases in a busy environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work variable night shifts, approximately 12 hours each.
• Willingness to work in a rural healthcare setting.
