The Advanced Practice Provider (APP), either a nurse practitioner or physician assistant, will provide comprehensive pediatric care, including well-child visits and management of common acute and chronic conditions. The role involves clinical practice, consultation, education, and professional development, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support children's health within their family and community context.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver longitudinal pediatric care, including well-child visits and management of acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care.
  • Provide consultation and support within the clinical team.
  • Engage in professional development, education, and scholarship activities.
  • Support health promotion and disease prevention efforts for pediatric patients.
  • Work within the scope of practice as defined by state licensure and certification.
  • Maintain documentation and compliance with clinical standards.
  • Participate in team meetings and quality improvement initiatives.

Compensation

  • Salary-based compensation (W-2 tax status).

Requirements

  • Graduate of a master's or doctoral level physician assistant program or a pediatric/family nurse practitioner program (DNP, MSN, or Post-Graduate Certificate).
  • At least 1 year of nursing or medical experience, with preferred experience in pediatrics.
  • Eligibility to practice as a nurse practitioner per the Alabama Board of Nursing or as a physician assistant per the Alabama Board of Medicine.
  • Current RN licensure in Alabama for nurse practitioners.
  • Current BLS and PALS certification.
  • Certification as CPNP-AC, CPNP-PC, FNP, or PA-C.
  • Strong clinical knowledge in pediatric care.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
