The Anesthesia Assistant (APP), which may be a CRNA or Anesthesia Assistant, practices under the medical direction of anesthesiologists to provide anesthesia services across various clinical settings. The role involves caring for patients of all acuity levels during surgical, obstetrical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures, ensuring safe and effective perioperative care.

Responsibilities

• Practice as part of an anesthesia care team under medical direction.
• Operate, interpret data from, and utilize anesthesia equipment to support patient safety.
• Provide perioperative and operating room care to patients under anesthesia.
• Collaborate effectively with clinical staff and other disciplines through verbal and written communication.
• Deliver care appropriate to the patient population and age-specific needs.
• Apply infection prevention and control techniques.
• Maintain confidential patient records.
• Support the efficient functioning of the operating room and facilitate timely delivery of care.

Requirements

• BA/BS in Nursing with RN licensure in Georgia and graduation from an accredited nurse anesthesia program, or a master's degree in Anesthesia.
• Minimum of one year of hospital, clinical quality, or performance improvement experience.
• Georgia licensure as a CRNA or Anesthesiologist Assistant.
• Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA).
• BLS certification.
• Ability to perform clinically as part of an anesthesia care team.
• Proficiency in operating anesthesia equipment and interpreting clinical data.
• Effective communication skills for collaboration with clinical staff.
• Knowledge of infection control practices.
• Ability to provide age-appropriate patient care and maintain confidentiality.
