The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) for outpatient gastrointestinal medical oncology. The provider will deliver comprehensive care to patients with gastrointestinal cancers in an ambulatory setting, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to manage treatment, symptom control, survivorship, and preventive health. The role involves independent patient assessments and working alongside physicians to optimize patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide healthcare services to patients with gastrointestinal cancers in an outpatient setting.
  • Monitor patient progress and support symptom management, survivorship, and surveillance care.
  • Manage patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other systemic therapies.
  • Conduct independent patient assessments and collaborate with physicians to optimize outcomes.
  • Coordinate care across infusion, examination, and supportive services.
  • Educate and counsel patients and families regarding treatment and health promotion.
  • Refer patients to other healthcare providers and community resources as appropriate.
  • Support continuity of care within a multidisciplinary team.

Shift & Schedule

Requirements

  • Current Ohio APRN license or eligibility for Ohio licensure as a PA-C.
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or PA program qualified to sit for certification exams recognized by Ohio or NCCPA.
  • Master of Science in Nursing or equivalent; PA-C certification.
  • Zero years of relevant experience required; 0-2 years of ambulatory APP experience preferred.
  • Oncology experience preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently assess patients.
  • Excellent communication and counseling skills.
  • Knowledge of systemic therapies such as chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
  • Commitment to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care.
