Starling Physicians in Bloomfield, Connecticut, is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife to join their OB-GYN department. The role involves providing full-scope midwifery care, including prenatal care, deliveries at Hartford Hospital, and patient counseling. The position requires participation in labor management on a rotating call schedule and performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for OB-GYN patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide full-scope midwifery care, including comprehensive prenatal care for low-risk obstetric patients.
• Perform deliveries at Hartford Hospital with access to a level 4 NICU.
• Participate in labor management and deliveries on a one-in-five call schedule.
• Initiate diagnostic procedures, interpret laboratory, radiological, and fetal heart rate tracing studies.
• Counsel and educate OB-GYN patients regarding their care.
• Prescribe medications and controlled substances as permitted by Connecticut law.
• Document all aspects of patient visits, including history, physical exams, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
• Order and administer injections and intravenous medications as needed for OB-GYN care.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Midwifery program with certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board.
• Valid Connecticut nursing license.
• Experience as a Certified Nurse Midwife is preferred; labor and delivery experience is a plus.
• New graduates with labor and delivery experience are encouraged to apply.
• Ability to interpret Non-Stress Test results.
• Experience in OB-GYN patient counseling and education.
• Strong documentation skills for patient records.
• Ability to participate in a variable schedule with on-call responsibilities.
• Excellent communication and clinical skills.
