Shriners Children's Ohio is seeking a full-time Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner for night shift coverage. The role involves managing hospitalized pediatric and young adult patients, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and providing comprehensive acute care services. The position offers access to pediatric intensivists and trauma surgeons, with a focus on critical and non-critical inpatient care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide night and weekend coverage for admitted pediatric inpatients, including critical and non-critical cases.
  • Manage hospitalized patients' care, including fluids, antibiotics, pain and sedation, vasopressors, and stabilization in shock or respiratory distress.
  • Collaborate with physicians, intensivists, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver preventive, acute, and specialized care.
  • Handle an average of 2-5 patients per shift, with approximately 1.5 overnight admissions.
  • Ensure timely and appropriate management of pediatric and young adult patients' conditions.
  • Utilize available resources such as Pediatric Intensivists and Trauma/Critical Care Burn Surgeons for consultation and backup.
  • Participate in hospital protocols and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communication regarding patient care.

Requirements

  • Acute Care Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-AC) certification from PNCB.

  • Comfort with managing fluids, antibiotics, pain control, sedation, vasopressors, and stabilization procedures.
  • Ability to work night shifts and weekends as part of variable schedule.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Comfort working in a Level 1 pediatric trauma center environment.
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to handle critical situations independently.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, hospital-based setting.
  • Access to 24/7 backup support from pediatric intensivists and trauma surgeons.
