The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) for the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at James Cancer Hospital. The APP will collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to deliver comprehensive patient care during acute and chronic illness phases, focusing on prevention, management, education, and referral services within a critical care setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide healthcare services to patients in the MICU in collaboration with licensed physicians.
• Manage care during acute and chronic phases of illness, including stabilization and ongoing treatment.
• Educate and counsel patients and their families regarding health conditions and treatment plans.
• Participate in health promotion and preventive care initiatives.
• Refer patients to appropriate healthcare providers and community resources as needed.
• Perform medical services authorized by licensure and credentialing standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with hospital policies and standards.

Requirements

• Current Ohio APRN license or eligibility for Ohio licensure as a PA-C.
• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or PA program recognized by relevant certifying bodies.
• Master’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent for Nurse Practitioners; PA-C certification for Physician Assistants.
• One year of critical care experience preferred.
• Ability to work in a rotating shift schedule, including variable hours.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills in a multidisciplinary team.

• Successful completion of background check; additional screening may be required.
• Eligible to practice within the scope of licensure and credentialing standards.
