The position involves providing outpatient medical care within a collaborative clinical team at Ochsner Medical Center, under supervision of the Medical Director or approved staff physicians. The role includes primary and urgent care management, emergency stabilization of critically ill patients, patient and staff education, and participation in teaching residents and medical students. The provider must adhere to established medical practices and ensure compliance with relevant laws and standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary and urgent medical management for outpatient clinic patients, including emergency stabilization of critically ill patients.
• Collaborate with residents, fellows, attendings, nurses, and discharge coordinators in planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
• Educate patients, families, staff, and the community about health conditions and treatment plans.
• Maintain knowledge of current laws, regulations, and accreditation standards relevant to patient care and compliance.
• Ensure adherence to Ochsner Health System policies, protocols, and standards of conduct.
• Participate in staff development, education, and research activities related to patient care.
• Perform physical examinations, develop treatment plans, and document patient encounters accurately.
• Work in a flexible schedule that may include weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.

Compensation

• Salary compensation model (W-2 tax status).

Shift & Schedule

• Variable schedule days, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• On-call availability required.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Nursing or Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant medicine or Health Sciences, or graduate of an approved Physician Assistant Training Program.
• Current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in Louisiana or Physician Assistant licensed and NCCPA certified.
• Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner certification from ANCC or AANPCP, or Physician Assistant certification.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association.
• Eligible for prescriptive authority in Louisiana as outlined by the State Board of Medical Examiners or State Board of Nursing.
• Proficiency in computer skills, including data entry, retrieval, and use of Windows applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information professionally.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to adapt communication to diverse patient populations.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel between facilities as needed.
• Ability to work a variable schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
