Carle Health is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to join the OB/GYN team at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. The role involves managing approximately 500-550 births annually at a Level III hospital, providing comprehensive prenatal and postpartum care, assisting with cesarean deliveries, and participating in clinical education and outreach activities. The CNM will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and participate in call rotations, with opportunities to expand pain management options and engage in community-based clinics.

Responsibilities

  • Manage prenatal, labor, delivery, and postpartum care for patients, including assisting with cesarean sections upon request.
  • Participate in approximately 500-550 births per year at a Level III hospital with 24/7 anesthesia coverage.
  • Provide patient education and support, including Centering Pregnancy programs and pain management options such as nitrous oxide.
  • Collaborate with the Nurse Family Partnership program and participate in clinical outreach clinics in surrounding areas, including travel as needed.
  • Serve as a first assist during cesarean deliveries when requested.
  • Supervise and precept medical, nursing, and midwifery students in clinical settings.
  • Participate in rotating call schedule (1:8), with an average of 3 office days per week, including weekends and holidays.
  • Contribute to a multidisciplinary team environment focused on high-quality, patient-centered care.

Compensation

  • Hourly wage ranging from $59.38 to $77.20, based on experience, qualifications, and other factors.
  • Compensation is provided through a W-2 tax status.

Requirements

  • Master's degree with a concentration in midwifery.
  • Current Illinois registered nurse license and advanced practice nurse licensure.
  • Certification as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM).
  • Experience in obstetrics and gynecology, including managing low- and high-risk pregnancies preferred.
  • Willingness to be trained as a Centering Pregnancy provider.
  • Ability to participate in rotating call schedule and clinical outreach activities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Commitment to providing culturally competent and inclusive care.
  • Additional training or experience in pain management options, including nitrous oxide, is a plus.
