The anesthesia assistant (CRNA or Anesthesia Assistant) practices under the medical direction of anesthesiologists to deliver high-quality, patient-centered anesthesia services across various clinical settings. The role involves caring for patients at all acuity levels during surgical, obstetrical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide anesthesia care under the supervision of anesthesiologists in diverse clinical settings.
  • Operate and interpret data from anesthesia and perioperative equipment to ensure patient safety.
  • Support the anesthesia care team with necessary perioperative or operating room care.
  • Collaborate effectively with clinical staff and other disciplines through verbal and written communication.
  • Assess patient data and needs based on age and developmental stage to deliver appropriate care.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient records and adhere to facility policies and procedures.
  • Implement infection prevention and control techniques.
  • Facilitate timely delivery of anesthesia and perioperative care to support operating room efficiency.

Compensation

  • 1099 employment model with covered medical malpractice insurance and travel stipend.
  • Compensation includes differential pay and other income types as applicable.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Nursing with RN licensure in Georgia and graduation from an accredited nurse anesthesia program, or a master's degree in Anesthesia.
  • At least one year of experience in a hospital setting, clinical quality, or performance improvement.
  • Georgia licensure as a CRNA or Anesthesiologist Assistant.
  • Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA).
  • BLS certification.
  • Ability to perform clinically as part of an anesthesia care team.
  • Proficiency in operating anesthesia and perioperative equipment.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with clinical staff.
  • Knowledge of infection control techniques.
  • Ability to support patient safety and well-being during anesthesia care.
