The Surgical Physician Assistant will provide comprehensive surgical care in general, urology, vascular, and orthopedic specialties at Evanston Hospital. The role involves evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients across various settings, assisting in surgeries, and performing therapeutic procedures, primarily during night shifts. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team is essential to deliver high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients in general surgery, urology, vascular, and orthopedic surgery.
• Provide surgical care in emergency room, operating room, post-operative, and inpatient settings.
• First assist in emergent surgeries within the specified specialties.
• Perform therapeutic procedures such as wound debridements, I&Ds, catheter placements, and NGT insertions.
• Collaborate with surgeons and healthcare team members to coordinate patient care.
• Work scheduled three consecutive 12-hour night shifts per week, including rotating weekends and holidays.
• Occasional travel to other healthcare sites may be required.
• Maintain current licensure and certifications, including DEA and Illinois Controlled Substance License.

Compensation

• $61.22 - $85.71 hourly pay rate, commensurate with experience and expertise.

Shift & Schedule

• Full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Three consecutive 12-hour night shifts (6 PM to 6 AM).
• Rotating weekends and holidays.
• Variable schedule with night shifts.

Requirements

• Current Physician Assistant license in Illinois.
• DEA and Illinois Controlled Substance License.
• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• CPR certification.
• At least one year of Physician Assistant experience preferred.
• Surgical experience preferred.
• Ability to work night shifts and rotating weekends and holidays.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Experience in emergency and inpatient care settings preferred.
• Ability to perform various therapeutic procedures.
