Emergency Department Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner

Grand River Health in Rifle, Colorado, is seeking an Emergency Department Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide patient care in a Level 4 Emergency Department. The role involves collaborating with physicians and hospital staff to assess, diagnose, and treat patients, including ordering and interpreting tests, prescribing medications, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. The position offers a competitive hourly rate with shift differentials and a supportive, community-oriented work environment.

Responsibilities

• Examine patients, perform comprehensive physical examinations, and compile patient medical data including health history and examination results.
• Collaborate with physicians to assess the physical needs of emergency department patients.
• Order, interpret, and record clinical test results; report findings to physicians and other departments.
• Coordinate with hospitalists and specialists regarding transfers and admissions when appropriate.
• Prescribe medications and recommend therapeutic treatments.
• Participate in quality assurance planning, initiatives, and improvement projects.
• Utilize extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish clinical goals.

Compensation

• $72.00 hourly rate; additional shift differentials available
• Compensation is paid via W-2 with differential pay options

Requirements

• Active ACLS and PALS certifications required upon hire and maintained throughout employment.
• ATLS certification preferred but not required.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in an Emergency Department or similar clinical setting preferred.
• For Physician Assistant: graduation from an accredited PA program, active Colorado PA licensure, and NCCPA certification preferred.
• For Nurse Practitioner: active Colorado licensure as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner in the relevant specialty.
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to handle high-pressure situations.
• Current state licensure and certifications as specified.
• Commitment to providing exceptional patient care and continuous quality improvement.
