The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - Outpatient at The Cancer & Hematology Centers is responsible for the comprehensive medical management of assigned cancer patients in an outpatient setting. The role involves patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and coordination of care, working closely with physicians and support staff to deliver compassionate, evidence-based oncology care.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain comprehensive patient histories and conduct physical examinations, documenting findings accurately.
  • Manage patient care by following treatment protocols, ordering and interpreting laboratory and radiographic studies, and prescribing medications as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with nursing and support staff to optimize patient outcomes and serve as a resource for team members.
  • Communicate effectively with supervising physicians to ensure continuity of care.
  • Advocate for patients by providing education, referrals, and addressing individual needs and concerns.
  • Seek consultation from physicians as needed to support clinical decision-making.
  • Perform additional duties within scope of practice as assigned, including procedures and patient education.
  • Maintain timely documentation and ensure compliance with clinical standards.

Compensation

Requirements

  • Current licensure and certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • Current BLS certification for Health Professionals.
  • Hematology/Oncology experience preferred.
  • Ability to exercise prudent clinical judgment in patient assessment and management.
  • Strong communication skills for effective patient and team interactions.
  • Experience with treatment protocols and medication management.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • Flexibility to work Monday through Friday, with schedule based on clinic needs.
  • Willingness to perform procedures and support patient education as needed.
