This fellowship position is designed for recent graduates who have successfully passed the Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant certification process and are seeking specialized clinical training within a designated field. The role involves providing primary healthcare services, supporting physicians, and participating in clinical activities under current scope of practice guidelines. It offers an opportunity to develop advanced clinical skills in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all medically appropriate clinical pre- and post-procedure activities, including evaluations, consent, medical histories, and patient care documentation.
  • Communicate patient care information, including procedural orders, care plans, and discharge summaries, to relevant healthcare team members and patients.
  • Assist physicians with technical procedures and provide support during clinical activities.
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance programs and clinical research projects, when applicable.
  • Engage in patient education to promote understanding of health conditions and treatments.
  • Contribute to operational assessments aimed at revenue enhancement, expense reduction, and billing opportunities.
  • Support the implementation of treatment plans and relay information between physicians, nursing staff, and patients.
  • Report to a supervisor or manager, with no supervisory or management responsibilities.

Compensation

  • Compensation is structured as an 'Other' model with W-2 tax status.

Shift & Schedule

  • Full-time, daytime schedule, Monday through Friday.
  • Work hours are during daytime shifts in the United States.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Successfully passed certification process for Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • Current certification and licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
  • CPR certification (COTR).
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with office equipment (fax, copier).
  • Knowledge of patient care equipment such as vital sign monitors, suction devices, and defibrillators.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Ability to work daytime hours, Monday through Friday.
  • Work location at Greenville Memorial Medical Campus, Pulmonology Department.
  • Work within the scope of practice for Advanced Practice Providers.
