Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant MedSurg

Grand River Health in Rifle, Colorado, is seeking a full-time Hospitalist Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to collaborate with hospital physicians in managing care for patients with stable and chronic illnesses. The role involves performing patient rounds, ordering and interpreting tests, prescribing medications, and coordinating post-acute care, with coverage across ICU, Med Surg, cardiology, and step-down units. The position reports directly to the Hospitalist Medical Director and emphasizes patient-centered care within a supportive community hospital environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage care for patients with stable and chronic illnesses in collaboration with hospital physicians.
• Order, interpret, and report clinical test results to physicians.
• Prescribe medications and recommend therapeutic treatments.
• Perform patient rounds and coordinate rehabilitation, home health, and follow-up services.
• Set up procedures, perform device interrogations, and manage complex arrhythmia and medication regimens.
• Admit patients through the emergency room and provide coverage in ICU, Med Surg, cardiology, and step-down units.
• Read and interpret EKGs, lab tests, and radiologic studies under supervision.
• Execute emergency department consultations, hospital discharges, post-op management, and rehab rounds.

Compensation

• Hourly pay rate of USD 75.00, based on experience.
• W-2 employment tax status.
• Compensation may vary depending on qualifications and experience.

Shift & Schedule

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program or active Colorado licensure as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner.
• Active Colorado licensure and certification (NCCPA for PAs) required; certification must be maintained.
• Active BLS and ACLS certifications required upon hire and maintained throughout employment.
• ATLS certification preferred but not required.
• 3 to 5 years of experience as a Hospitalist or in a similar clinical role preferred.
• Master's Degree in a relevant specialty (preferred for PAs).
• Ability to interpret EKGs, lab tests, and radiologic studies.
• Strong clinical judgment and experience managing complex patient cases.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment.
