The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides patient care in acute, short-term, and long-term care settings by assessing patients, assisting physicians, and managing treatment plans. The role involves collaboration with healthcare teams, prescribing medications, and promoting health and disease prevention. The position requires current licensure, certification, and adherence to regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients by obtaining medical histories and performing examinations to determine healthcare needs.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to analyze collected information and develop diagnoses.
• Formulate treatment plans, prescribe medications as authorized, and monitor patient progress.
• Maintain detailed and timely documentation of patient care, health plans, and prognoses.
• Refer patients to specialists when conditions exceed scope of practice.
• Provide health education and counseling to patients and families on prevention and management of health issues.
• Participate in care coordination, including rounding on patients and assisting with procedures as needed.
• Stay current with evidence-based practices, regulatory requirements, and payer systems to optimize patient care.

Compensation

• Salary-based compensation (W-2 tax status).

Shift & Schedule

• Full-time schedule with 8-hour day shifts.
• Work hours: Monday 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Tuesday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
• One Saturday shift every three months, from 9:00 AM to noon.
• No on-call duties or holiday work required.

Requirements

• Master's, post-master's, or doctorate degree from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
• Current licensure by the applicable state board of nursing for advanced practice.
• Current DEA permit to prescribe controlled substances.
• Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (NP-C or FNP-BC).
• Demonstrated competence in providing care for an adequate volume of patients within the past twelve months.
• Experience relevant to the privileges requested or recent completion of a nurse practitioner program.
• Knowledge of state legal regulations for advanced practice providers and reimbursement systems.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a clinical setting.
• Excellent communication and patient education skills.
• Ability to maintain current certifications and department-specific competencies.
