The Nurse Practitioner will work under the supervision of the Medical Director within a clinical setting, providing comprehensive patient care including examinations, diagnosis, treatment, and patient education. The role involves collaboration with physicians and other healthcare team members to deliver quality primary care services in St. Croix, VI.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a physician to perform physical examinations, diagnose, prescribe, and treat both chronic and episodic disorders.
- Evaluate patient health, diagnose illnesses, and manage patients with unstable chronic diseases relevant to clinical specialty.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as x-rays and laboratory tests.
- Develop, adjust, and implement treatment plans, including medication management.
- Provide urgent care for acutely ill patients.
- Document medical information accurately in electronic health records, ensuring patient privacy.
- Counsel and educate patients and families on health issues, treatment plans, and home care.
- Participate in staff meetings, quality improvement activities, and coordinate referrals with other healthcare providers.
Compensation
- Annual salary of USD 43,877.00, paid via W-2 tax status.
Requirements
- Master of Science degree in nursing from an accredited graduate school.
- At least two (2) years of clinical work experience.
- Knowledge of accreditation, certification, and regulatory standards related to primary health care.
- Knowledge of patient treatment planning, diagnostic procedures, and medication management.
- Certification in CPR or ACLS.
- Ability to perform physical examinations and patient assessments.
- Effective communication skills with patients and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision under the direction of the Medical Director.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records and healthcare information systems.
- Understanding of patient privacy laws such as HIPAA.
