The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Denver Midtown Clinic provides advanced clinical care in collaboration with a team of surgeons and cardiologists. The role involves perioperative assistance, patient management, and outpatient follow-up, with a schedule Monday through Friday and paid call responsibilities for nights and weekends. Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons during cardiothoracic procedures, including vein harvesting and intraoperative tasks.
• Perform radial artery and saphenous vein harvesting procedures.
• Place Foley catheters and invasive lines as needed.
• Discharge same-day or PACU patients and participate in daily team rounding.
• Conduct new history and physical assessments and manage surgical follow-ups in the clinic.
• Provide on-call coverage during nights and weekends, including rounding and first-call duties for the nursing floor (non-ICU/non-ED).
• Collaborate with cardiologists in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Support perioperative patient care and ensure timely documentation and communication.

Compensation

• Base salary ranges from $140,000 to $193,000, depending on experience.
• Q4 call pay is approximately $34,000 annually, plus call back activation pay.
• Sign-on bonus of $10,000 and relocation assistance up to $7,500 if applicable.
• Additional annual CME allowance of $3,500 and 40 hours of PTO for CME activities.
• Compensation is provided as a W-2 salary plus incentives.

Shift & Schedule

• Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8-hour days.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
• Licensed as PA or NP in Colorado or able to obtain licensure, DEA, and prescriptive authority in Colorado.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a First Assist PA or NP in cardiothoracic surgery, including endoscopic vein harvesting.
• No recent graduates; prior experience in vein harvesting for bypass procedures is required.
• Strong clinical skills in perioperative care and patient management.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Availability for scheduled hours Monday through Friday and on-call duties.
• Current certification and licensure in Colorado.
