The Cardiovascular Critical Care Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant provides comprehensive direct patient care for critically ill patients with cardiovascular conditions in a high-acuity setting. The role involves autonomous decision-making, patient management, discharge planning, patient and staff education, and participation in research and quality improvement initiatives. The provider collaborates with a multidisciplinary team within an academic medical center environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of critically ill cardiovascular patients, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
• Exercise autonomous decision-making in patient care and treatment initiation.
• Participate in discharge planning and patient education.
• Contribute to staff education and research/quality improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with intensivists, cardiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals.
• Utilize advanced practice skills for assessment, intervention, and evaluation of patient care.
• Work in a high-acuity, critical care environment with a multidisciplinary team.
• Perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, and lifting patients, and work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation

• Hourly rate ranging from USD 65.26 to USD 87.76.
• Compensation is provided on a W-2 basis.

Requirements

• Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing with specialization in Acute Care or Critical Care (NP) or Master's degree from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program (PA).
• Current state licensure as an NP or PA and national certification (ACNP for NP, PA-C for PA).
• BLS and ACLS certification, DEA registration for prescriptive authority.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a critical care setting preferred.
• Experience in cardiovascular care and ECMO is highly desirable.
• Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
• Ability to perform physical tasks and handle high-stress situations with mental acuity.
