The Physician Assistant at Southern Medical Group provides comprehensive patient care within the scope of practice authorized by the Tennessee Board. The role involves performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating medical conditions, ordering tests, and collaborating with healthcare team members to deliver quality care in a full-time, day shift schedule.

Responsibilities

• Obtain detailed patient histories and perform physical examinations.
• Assess and treat acute and chronic medical problems, delivering direct patient care within authorized privileges.
• Order and administer appropriate medical tests and treatments, ensuring patient comfort and understanding.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans, monitor care quality, and coordinate patient management.
• Provide patient and family education and counseling, referring to specialists as needed.
• Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members, addressing concerns and ensuring clarity of instructions.
• Document patient encounters clearly and accurately, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
• Participate in team-based care, quality improvement activities, and organizational initiatives.

Compensation

• Salary compensation model (W-2 tax status).
• Full-time position with 80 hours per pay period.

Shift & Schedule

• Monday through Friday schedule.
• Day shift hours.

Requirements

• Licensed as a Physician Assistant by the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners.
• Previous experience as a Physician Assistant.
• Ability to perform comprehensive medical histories and physicals, including dictation skills.
• Competence in evaluating and initiating treatment for medical conditions.
• Strong communication skills to convey complex medical information to diverse populations.
• CPR certification.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team.
• Knowledge of clinical protocols and regulatory standards such as The Joint Commission.
• Ability to manage multiple patient cases efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with documentation and charting requirements.
