This Physician Assistant position within the Acute Care Surgery & Critical Care (ACS&CC) team involves providing clinical support in the emergency department during peak hours for trauma and surgical patients. The role includes performing assessments, procedures, and trauma consultations, collaborating with surgical team members, and contributing to quality improvement and educational initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Represent the ACS&CC team as a provider in the Emergency Department.
• Provide backup for inpatient medical-surgical floor ACS APP providers.
• Perform ED consultations, including patient assessments, histories, and physical examinations.
• Perform procedures and wound care as required in the ED.
• Deliver care to patients boarded in the ED for ACS&CC services.
• Respond to Level 3 traumas and provide trauma consultations.
• Coordinate patient discharges and ensure follow-up care.
• Document all clinical encounters and procedures accurately in the EMR.

Compensation

• Competitive base salary range $130,145–$151,836 depending on academic rank.

Shift & Schedule

• Monday to Friday schedule.
• Shift hours from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with negotiable mid-shift hours.
• Variable schedule including weekday and weekend shifts.

Requirements

• Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current NYS licensure and national certification (NCCPA).
• BLS and ACLS certifications; willing to audit or ATLS certified.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience in surgical or inpatient care preferred.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills.
