The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to join the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)/Transplant team. The role involves providing comprehensive care to critically ill surgical patients, including those in trauma, transplant, vascular, plastics, orthopedic, burn, and general surgery services. The APP collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to deliver evidence-based, high-quality care in a high-acuity, academic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform procedures such as central and arterial line placement.
  • Participate in daily patient rounds, handoffs, family meetings, and care conferences.
  • Provide care during acute and chronic phases of illness, including education and counseling for patients and families.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives, protocol development, and educational activities.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other clinicians to deliver comprehensive patient care.
  • Practice within the scope of licensure and under standard care agreements or supervisory arrangements.
  • Refer patients to community resources and other healthcare providers as appropriate.
  • Work in a team-oriented environment with a focus on professional growth and development.

Compensation

Requirements

  • Current certification to practice as an APRN in Ohio or eligibility for Ohio licensure as a PA-C.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or completion of a PA-C program recognized by NCCPA.
  • Ability to sit for certification examinations recognized by the Ohio Board of Nursing or NCCPA.
  • One year of relevant clinical experience preferred.
  • Experience performing procedures such as line placements is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a high-acuity, academic medical environment.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts and variable schedules.
  • Compliance with background check and possible drug screening requirements.
