This full-time, unpaid clinical rotation provides healthcare experience working with urban underserved populations in a Christian service context. Participants work alongside a preceptor, participate in clinical procedures, and engage in spiritual health training. The rotation is open to MD/DO students, residents, NP students, and PA students, and offers opportunities to incorporate spiritual practices into healthcare delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Work in clinic for at least 150 hours over a 4-week period
  • Take focused patient histories and perform physical examinations
  • Present and document pertinent clinical findings
  • Assist with medical procedures as requested
  • Accompany preceptor to hospital nursery (depending on credentials)
  • Attend at least 6 hours of weekly didactic spiritual health training
  • Shadow for at least 2 hours with a Spiritual Health Advisor

  • Adherence to universal, bloodborne, airborne, and sterile precautions
  • HIPAA training verification and BLS certification (PALS preferred)
  • Background check and drug screening or documentation
  • Current government-issued ID and wearable badge (temporary badge available)
  • Signed confidentiality, liability, and media consent forms
  • Immunization records including TB, HBV, and Flu (season-dependent)
  • Personal transportation for intra-day travel between facilities
