The Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) at James Cancer Hospital provides comprehensive hematology care to leukemia patients across all disease stages. Working collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, the APP manages acute and chronic conditions, participates in patient education, and supports clinical trials to deliver innovative therapies. The role involves providing high-acuity care in a specialized inpatient setting with a focus on personalized treatment and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient hematology care to leukemia patients, including management of acute and chronic phases of illness.
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Perform authorized medical services within scope of practice and credentialing guidelines.
• Educate and counsel patients and families regarding disease management, treatment options, and preventive health.
• Address complications during treatment, including during consolidation chemotherapy and relapse.
• Participate in clinical trials to facilitate access to innovative therapies.
• Coordinate referrals to community resources and other healthcare providers as needed.
• Contribute to a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care.

Requirements

• Current license to practice as an APRN or PA-C in Ohio.
• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or PA program recognized for certification eligibility.
• Master’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent for Nurse Practitioners; PA-C certification recognized by NCCPA for Physician Assistants.
• Eligibility for Ohio licensure as a PA-C.
• At least 1 year of experience in leukemia or hematology preferred.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication and patient education skills.
