Southeast Orthopedic Specialists is seeking a Physician Assistant to provide orthopedic medical care under physician supervision. The role involves conducting physical exams, diagnosing and treating illnesses, ordering tests, prescribing medications, and counseling patients on preventative health. The PA will also triage patient calls, respond to emergencies, and document patient information. The position offers competitive compensation with incentives and quarterly bonuses, but does not include health insurance coverage.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physical exams, assess health status, order and interpret tests, prescribe medications, and treat illnesses including injections and suturing wounds.
• Consult with physicians as needed and refer complex cases.
• Monitor therapies and ensure continuity of care.
• Triage patient calls, evaluate problems, and respond to emergencies including CPR.
• Counsel patients and families on preventative health care.
• Document patient information and care in medical records and maintain departmental data for research.
• Provide medical care delegated by physicians within the scope of practice.
• Develop health education programs and collaborate with healthcare team members.

Compensation

• Salary plus incentives, including productivity bonuses.
• Compensation is provided through a W-2 tax status.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and successful completion of an accredited physician assistant program.
• Current PA state license and national certification from the NCCPA.
• Current CPR certification.
• At least four years of healthcare experience prior to PA program application, plus one year of clinical PA experience, preferably in orthopedics.
• Ability to make responsible clinical decisions within scope of practice.
• Skill in gathering and analyzing physiological, socioeconomic, and emotional patient data.
• Ability to evaluate and revise care plans based on patient changes.
• Strong communication skills for patient counseling and team collaboration.
• Ability to respond effectively to emergencies, including CPR proficiency.
• Competence in developing health education materials and programs.
