The Physician Assistant will provide direct patient care in the Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine division at Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center. The role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team in a Level IV NICU, managing critically ill neonates with complex medical conditions, and participating in 24/7 in-house coverage with a high degree of clinical autonomy. The position requires collaboration with attending physicians, residents, and other healthcare professionals to improve patient outcomes and provide education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to critically ill neonates in the NICU.
  • Work as part of a clinical team including neonatologists, fellows, residents, and other healthcare providers.

  • Manage complex neonatal cases including premature infants, surgical disorders, genetic anomalies, and conditions requiring advanced therapies such as ECMO.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently with a high level of clinical judgment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience in neonatal or critical care is preferred but not explicitly required.
  • Willingness to participate in 24/7 in-house coverage and on-call duties.
  • Knowledge of neonatal intensive care protocols and procedures.
  • Licensure and certification must be maintained throughout employment.
