Samaritan's Purse is seeking medical professionals—including Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Midwives, and CRNAs—to serve on the Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART). These roles involve providing emergency medical care in international disaster zones, often in challenging and unstable environments. Deployment is on an on-call basis, with compensation and travel costs covered during response periods. Candidates must be committed to the organization's Christian mission and able to deploy with short notice.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical care to patients in emergency, triage, and hospital settings during international disaster responses.
  • Manage care for specific patient populations, including pediatric, obstetric, critical, or surgical patients, depending on the role.
  • Evaluate and treat patients with trauma, severe illness, or obstetric needs in resource-limited and potentially insecure environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-cultural teams to deliver appropriate medical services in challenging conditions.
  • Perform initial assessments and ongoing care for OB patients, including prenatal and postpartum evaluations.
  • Administer anesthesia and respiratory care for surgical procedures as a CRNA.
  • Work long hours in demanding settings, often with extended shifts and limited resources.
  • Maintain flexibility and readiness for deployment with minimal notice, typically 3-4 weeks, 1-2 times per year.

Compensation

  • Compensation is activated upon deployment, covering response-related living and travel costs.
  • Employment is on a W-2 tax status basis, with pay provided during active response periods.

Benefits

  • No health insurance coverage provided.
  • No employer retirement contributions.

Shift & Schedule

  • Deployment occurs with little or no warning, typically lasting 3-4 weeks.
  • Schedule is variable and dependent on disaster response needs.
  • On-call availability is required, with deployments 1-2 times per year.

Requirements

  • Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and commitment to sharing the Gospel.
  • Availability for short-notice deployment, typically 3-4 weeks, 1-2 times annually.
  • Experience working in developing countries or similar resource-limited settings.
  • Willingness to serve in unstable, insecure environments.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress, and cross-cultural team environment.
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience in a relevant specialty (e.g., emergency, critical care, pediatrics, internal medicine, anesthesia, midwifery).
  • Current active licensure in the provider’s discipline.
  • Recent clinical experience within the last five years.
  • Completion of accredited training as a Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Midwife, or CRNA.
  • Fluency in English.
