The Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA) provides clinical support in anesthesia and pain management under the supervision of an anesthesiologist. The role involves performing patient assessments, assisting with anesthesia procedures, managing airway interventions, administering medications, and supporting emergency responses. The CAA collaborates with the supervising physician to ensure safe and effective anesthesia care across various clinical settings.

Responsibilities

• Obtain comprehensive patient histories and perform relevant physical examinations for review by the supervising anesthesiologist.
• Pretest, calibrate, and interpret information from anesthesia delivery systems and monitors in consultation with an anesthesiologist.
• Assist with the implementation of anesthesia monitoring techniques and establish airway management, including intubation and ventilator support.
• Administer anesthetic, adjuvant, and accessory drugs, including narcotics, and manage vasoactive infusions.
• Support regional anesthesia procedures such as epidurals and spinals under supervision.
• Administer blood products and supportive fluids as needed.
• Participate in emergency response efforts, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and assist in patient transfer and recovery.
• Engage in administrative, research, and clinical teaching activities as authorized.

Compensation

• Hourly compensation ranging from USD 93.99 to USD 115.43 per hour.
• Compensation is provided through a W-2 tax model.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Anesthesiologist Assistant program.
• Current and valid license to practice as an Anesthesiologist Assistant in Washington, D.C.

• Minimum of 1 year of post-graduate Anesthesiologist Assistant experience.
