Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group's Department of Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery is seeking a Physician Assistant to assist with cardiac surgical procedures, including adult and pediatric cases. The role involves assisting in surgeries, wound management, and other perioperative duties, with a focus on vascular harvesting techniques. The position requires at least one year of experience and appropriate certification and licensing.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all cardiac surgical procedures for adult and pediatric patients, including first or second assistant roles.
• Perform wound closures, suturing, balloon and chest tube insertion and removal, and management.
• Participate in quality assurance conferences.
• Maintain certification and licensing requirements, including PA-C, BLS, and ACLS.
• Work scheduled Monday through Friday with a minimum of one weekend call per month.
• Contribute to intraoperative procedures such as harvesting saphenous vein grafts, radial arteries, and endoscopic vein harvesting.
• Ensure compliance with departmental protocols and safety standards.

Compensation

• Starting base salary ranges from $150,000 to $240,000, adjusted based on experience and faculty rank.
• Compensation does not include variable pay or productivity bonuses.

Shift & Schedule

• Monday through Friday work schedule.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a surgical setting.
• Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (PA-C).
• Current California Physician Assistant license.
• BLS and ACLS certification maintained.
• Experience with harvesting saphenous vein grafts, radial arteries, and endoscopic vein harvesting.
• Ability to assist in complex cardiac procedures and manage perioperative patient care.
• Strong suturing and wound management skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Availability to work scheduled hours and participate in weekend call duties.
• Knowledge of safety standards and quality assurance protocols.
