The Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) at Positive Impact Health Centers provides specialty assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), administers HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), and manages primary and HIV specialty care for patients living with HIV/AIDS. The role involves collaboration with clinical staff and adherence to established protocols to deliver comprehensive HIV prevention and treatment services.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of STIs, including syphilis, gonorrhea, and Chlamydia, following CDC and Georgia Department of Public Health guidelines.
  • Elicit sexual health histories, evaluate laboratory results, and determine appropriate treatment plans for STIs.
  • Order and administer immunizations, including hepatitis A and B vaccines, based on screening results.
  • Provide education on HIV/STI prevention and treatment, including counseling on medication adherence and test-for-cure procedures.
  • Assess patients at risk for HIV, prescribe and review PrEP regimens, and monitor labs and medication adherence.
  • Conduct initial and follow-up medical evaluations for patients with HIV, including history-taking, physical exams, and ordering laboratory tests.
  • Counsel patients on antiretroviral therapy (ART), initiate treatment when appropriate, and manage ongoing HIV care.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential medical records and participate in team meetings and case discussions.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Georgia licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.

  • Knowledge of STI and HIV prevention, diagnosis, and treatment protocols.
  • Ability to perform specialized assessments and provide patient education on HIV/STI prevention and treatment.
  • Excellent communication skills, including listening, writing, and speaking.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and basic computer software.
  • Physical ability to perform job duties, including occasional lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Willingness to adhere to all policies, including COVID-19 vaccination requirements where applicable.
