The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) at Denver Health provides comprehensive prenatal, obstetric, postpartum, neonatal, gynecologic, and family planning care. The role involves evaluating patient health, performing gynecologic and obstetrical procedures, prescribing medications, supervising students and residents, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and monitor patients' health conditions in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, following clinical guidelines.
  • Assess patients through medical record review, health history, and physical examinations.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests to inform patient care.
  • Admit and discharge patients from hospital inpatient care.
  • Perform gynecologic and obstetrical procedures within scope, including contraceptive provision and limited OB ultrasound.
  • Prescribe medications, including controlled substances and contraceptives.
  • Complete clinical documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Educate patients to support informed decision-making regarding health and treatment options.
  • Supervise and teach midwifery, nurse-practitioner, medical students, and residents in clinical settings.

Compensation

  • Salary commensurate with experience.
  • W-2 tax status.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree from a nationally accredited midwifery program.
  • 1-3 years of inpatient and outpatient midwifery care experience.
  • Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB).
  • Current licenses and registrations including DEA registration, BLS, NRP, and DORA certifications.
  • Knowledge of core midwifery practice, diagnostic and treatment techniques, and electronic health records (preferably EPIC).
  • Ability to prescribe medications, including controlled substances and hormone therapies.
  • Strong communication skills, including empathic and trauma-informed care.
  • Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Experience supervising and educating students and residents.
  • Knowledge of clinical guidelines and ability to exercise clinical judgment.
