The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) provides comprehensive, independent care during pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and reproductive health services. The role involves assessment, diagnosis, treatment, patient education, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care in accordance with professional standards and hospital policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing comprehensive medical assessments, diagnoses, and treatments for patients.
• Initiate appropriate treatments, perform procedures, conduct physical exams, and administer medications.
• Provide patient education and health promotion, including disease prevention and wellness counseling.
• Evaluate the need for immediate intervention, consultation, or referral to other healthcare team members.
• Collaborate with nursing and medical staff to coordinate patient care.
• Delegate patient care responsibilities based on the level of care required.
• Practice in accordance with the Standards for the Practice of Midwifery as defined by the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM).
• Work varying hours, including holidays and weekends, as needed.
