Advantage Surgical and Wound Care is seeking a Part-Time Wound Care Specialist to perform bedside wound assessments and treatments in post-acute care facilities within the Bakersfield, CA area. The role involves rounding at multiple facilities, providing wound debridement, dressing management, and collaborating with facility staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The position offers clinical autonomy with no call responsibilities and flexible scheduling, primarily 1-2 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive wound assessments and identify risk factors for wound development.
  • Perform wound debridement and apply appropriate dressings.
  • Collaborate with facility staff to develop and implement effective wound care plans.
  • Educate nursing staff on wound care procedures and best practices.
  • Maintain communication with primary care physicians, families, and clinical teams.
  • Order medications and provide clear instructions for their use.
  • Deliver wound care to geriatric patients in post-acute care settings.
  • Round daily at multiple facilities within a designated territory.

Compensation

  • $200,000 – $250,000 yearly salary
  • Compensation model includes salary plus incentives

Requirements

  • Active state medical license (MD/DO).
  • Board certification in Family Practice or Internal Medicine preferred.
  • Experience in wound care or post-acute care settings preferred.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Ability to perform wound debridement and manage wound dressings.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and perform physical tasks required for wound care.
  • Comfortable working independently with clinical autonomy.
  • Experience working with geriatric patient populations preferred.
  • No supervisory responsibilities required.
