Requirements

  • Graduate or higher degree from an accredited professional nursing program in Nurse Practitioner or Family Practice Nurse Practitioner specialty.
  • Current, active, unrestricted license as a professional nurse in the U.S. and passing the National Council Licensure Examination.
  • One or more full years of professional nursing experience including conducting physical exams, prescribing medications, and interpreting lab or diagnostic tests.
  • Experience working in an outpatient or ambulatory care setting.
  • Ability to analyze laboratory results and provide appropriate treatment.
  • Proficiency in maintaining electronic medical records.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Foreign degree holders must have certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools.
  • Exemption applies if currently employed in the federal occupational series 0610 since before September 27, 2017, with proper documentation.
  • Must meet all basic licensure and experience requirements for federal employment as a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner.
